Sofa cleaning ,what ever happened to all those cotton prints
« on: December 04, 2014, 04:23:25 pm »
Didn't you just love them   :-X

We would see them every where literally every day for years large cotton flowery print sofas and armchairs that were all the rage but were, unless in tip top condition, practically un-cleanable if stained or heavily soiled, your heart would sink every time you got called in to a home and there it was dominating the living room.Take about 3-4 hours to clean only for it to come up rubbish, your back would be breaking by the end.

Used to make me laugh as the instructions used to say 'Dry Clean Only' what a joke you would have more luck blowing air across it.

Hideous things that in end we would refuse to clean, John Lewis on their own must of sold a million of them and we must of soil proofed most those..... but to no avail.

Any way I believe they are making a come back  ;D

We used to take them away to clean them when I worked for Franklins the problem there was that when we dry cleaned the cushions before wet cleaning them the grease would come off and the dye would have worn off underneath the greasy areas and leave a big white area where the customers head etc had been, try explaining that to the customer!

Think I may pack up cleaning upholstery if they become the norm again.

I remember also the arms of the suite would be really warn under the dirt and grease and sometimes had to be careful not to split them😳
