I dislodged the circlip & weight from the heater cut off when filling the machine yesterday. I remember dumping the 1st bucket in quite aggressively, Luckilly  enough I was using the heater so I noticed that something was wrong immediately, I found the components in the bottom of the tank, could easily have ended up in the waste bucket.
