Ionics
« on: December 03, 2014, 07:07:38 pm »
Having recently bought a van with 1000ltr thermopile I have had to take it to Ionics to get it looked at.. First time got a whopping great bill of over £800.

Today all 3 pumps packed up and not being overly comfortable with the inner workings I rang and was told I may have to book it in... No way... So I bit the bullet and drove straight there unannounced....

To be fair Damian Whittaker came out and took the van off of me and sorted it all out.. He was gracious enough to work me a decent price too.

Just felt it right to share good experiences as we have them...

What did they do and how much did they charge you?

What did they do for £800?

So, they took you for over £800. Then tried it on again. Only when their hand was forced did they do the right thing- where's this good experience? ;D ;D

The 1st visit was not a good experience as I was there nearly 10 hours and its as boring as hell!! Honestly mind numbing.. and then a bill for over £800 inclusive.. Had pumps, batteries and wiring done as previous owner didn't look after it and an ionics system is all new to me...

This time I needed another pump and a controller (they could do these an awful lot better) and they fitted it all FOC with a couple of other bits..

My point was they don't really do unannounced visits and Damian works in the office but he sorted it.

Yes I agree that a lot of there stuff is grossly over priced but I love the Thermopure and will definitely consider it before anything else purely as a delivery system in the van but they do need to re design the controllers..

I know most people are Ionics doubters/haters and I was definitely one of them...

Most of it is grossly overpriced backed by expensive marketing..

But good service is good service.. and should be reported...

My whole system costs less than £800 (tank, pump/controller, two DI's) and has never let me down in over 10 years. I fitted it myself too- now that's what you call good service!! ;) ;D
