Spring Controllers do a Froststat that they adapted for gas heaters.

You could also just drain the boiler down every night by undoing the valve (Meny heaters).

We do the same on the van that isn't heated with its pump - turn stop co ck off at the tank, remove filter bowl and switch pump on. The pump sucks in air and pushes the water in to hose out of the van ports.

yea thats a good point just make sure the system is empty, pipes etc.

i may leave a heater in the van overnight on a thermostat just to save anything freezing at all like brush heads or any water that may still be in the reel etc then crank boiler on in the morning and then should be ok for the day  ;D well i hope. really dont want to be caught out this year if it hits below -4 for a week or 2

On a separate note, be careful leaving a electric heater on over night if youve got a gas tank sat in there...a motorhome went up not far from you Dean did you hear about it? Massive explosion from gas tank and took out part of the house it was parked next to.

Might be an idea to lift out gas if leaving a heater in over night.

I would say oil would be best and cheapest to run.

I have an immersion on a timer. Comes on about 3 - 4 in morning. Van is toasty when i go out lol

I would have thought that switching the gas off at the gas bottle would be sufficient. You are required to switch the gas bottle off each time you move the van.

Of course, you could only fit a froststat to a heater that was vented out through the van's roof.

That's what I was doing but apparently U shouldn't do it with a regular 13 amp plug socket. You need a 16amp socket wired in to the main source  :'(
