hose reel brocken
« on: November 14, 2014, 06:46:46 pm »
Was pulling hose from back door of van. Its got wheels on and I normally sit it on floor and push door too. I was on a mad road had hazards out and cone on road. Pooing myself with traffic. Because I left it in van, when I pulled hole the reel fell on the floor. The wheel assembly came apart.
Is there a stronger reel? They weigh a ton full of water. Yes they arnt designed to fall 2ft but still
Also. Sick on hose spinning of reel and getting tangled between side and frame. Will a solid side help
My reel looks like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Wheeled-heavy-metal-hose-reel-100m-Window-Cleaning-WFP-New-/351141282047?pt=UK_HomeGarden_CLV_Cleaning_CA&hash=item51c1a6c0ff
Thinking of getting 6mm instead and possibly 50mtr use 100mtr 8mm for other job

Goto pure freedom site, their reels are solid sides and better made than these, they are a nice reel for the money.

Personal opinions here, I'd bolt the reel to the van floor of shelf, all that lifting will do your back in one day.

Use microbore 6mm hose, lighter to use, still snags, but less often as it tends to go through gaps easier being a smaller o/d (11mm)

I agree, but the problem I have is when the van is say side ways to a job.Pop reel out, face other direction and off I go

I can't believe how much easier my day has become since bolting the wheel to the van floor.

All our reels are like the one in the picture but without the wheels.  Never had one break BUT you can buy spares of all the parts and fix it.

This little mod stops the hose coming off the sides.

Also notice centre section modded helps.

i love having my hose reel bolted down but it keeps spinning after i stop and when i come back i have to reel more hose off and the spool it back properly - but its still better than lifting in and out
