Question for Smudger
« on: November 13, 2014, 08:51:26 am »

Hi Smudger, I hope you don't mind me asking for some advice,  a few days ago I asked the guys on here how they
administered virosol at height above first floor windows onto FSG as a pretreatment before WFPoling it.
I'm sure I read on an earlier post that you use a Gardiners Backpack to do this, if this is so, could you advise me
on how yours is setup,  what mix you use in the backpack and what brush or attachment to pole do you use,
pencil or fanjets or what ever you use, any advice I would be very grateful.

 Best regards
 Lal

I'm not Darran, sadly, but we used Virosol in a backpack as a pre-treatment the last time we cleaned some third story windows on a school we do.

We mixed an amount to ratio as per the instructions on the container. We filled the backpack with pure water and added the concentrate into the backpack, mixed it up and screwed the top back on.

We used our usual SLX40 with the backpack on a low flow to soak the windows. Each window was wetted down quickly, the water flow switched off and the window scrubbed. We moved onto the next window allowing time for the cleaner to soak in.

We did a number of windows before changing the brush onto the normal water from the van and started at the begining washing and rinsing with pure using the same brush.

We used a standard Gardiner extreme brush with 2mm pencil jets.

I also have a Hozlock pump sprayer which fits onto an Unger Teleplus pole. I replaced the short plastic delivery pipe with a longer on and so use the sprayer that comes with the sprayer to apply Virosol onto the surface I want to clean. I usually use this method when doing gutter and fascia cleans.

Many years ago there was a post put up on here and I just copied what a previous windie had done.

Thx spruceysmudger!

You nailed it on the head, the only differences are we use g101 and the dilution rate is 20% and I prefer fan jets.

The guys did a SFG clean today with a little for facebook, when they send it over I'll post a link

Darran

Thanks Spruce and Darran for your advice, very much appreciated, I will definitely be ordering a backpack now,
it will make cleaning FSG a whole lot easier.  :)

 Best regards
