The Met Office issue a series of long range predictions, not forecasts, from the most likely to the least likely so as business, industry, the government, etc can at least be prepared for the worst case scenario to the best.

Forecast definition: predict or estimate (a future event or trend).

In meteorology, forecasts are based on computer modelling, known weather patterning, observable current data and experience.

Long range 'forecasts' are a series of possibilities based purely on past similar weather and a few global trends such as the north Atlantic oscillation, etc.

Not like the express to scare monger over the weather is it. Must have run out of new leads over princess Diana's death today. It's an absolute joke of a rag why anyone would buy it I have no idea .

I've just got two new waterproof sets ready for the winter, working regardless of the weather now I'll be warm and dry all day, everyday regardless of weather unless it's really bad and could do with a day off. Can't be doing with debating wether it will dry up anymore. Work everyday until Xmas now regardless of weather report.
