Just got back from the tip 

With my rubbish I had a roll of thermobore wound onto an old wooden spool. I asked which skip it should go in.
"you use that for window cleaning don't you?"
err yes
"well you can't dump that here - it's commercial waste!"
what would you like me to do then - chuck it in a layby?
" it's commercial waste - you need a licence"
At this point a guy in the next car sees it "that's ok mate I'll take that for the school - they can use it for watering their garden.
"not in here you can't - you're not allowed to give him that on this property"

In the end the guy in the car said to chuck it outside the entrance and he'd pick it up.

You need a commercial carrying waste licensee for gutter vav crap taking away from a customers house.

No wonder people fly tip with the attitude of this guy.

Same as my tip though, park round the corner and walk in.

Had the same always took any house waste to the tip no problems. Often go in the van, no probs.Today some ASS wanted a permit I tried to explain I only have a van. So anything in a van is commercial.

Round here if your in a car or whatever you can dumb whatever you like.

To use a van you get 12 permits a year (12 alll0wed trips)

If van in sign written etc and its obvious a work van you need a commercial permit

I just put seats down in car there not much that wont fit in

You get some right arsholes working in those places. The worst one was when someone stopped me in my van. He asked what was in there and I told him just domestic waste. He then asked to look. In other words I'm a liar.

I used to have this problem at the tip also, would not lift the height restriction gate for a van and would make you provide a current utility bill with address and sign a declaration that it was own household waste and then have to wheel all the rubbish on a cart about 200 yards in to the depo .

Now it is a lot easier though
Brighton and Hove green city council in their wisdom came up with the great money saving idea of stopping curb side collections from wheelie bins and provided our street with 4 large communal bins on wheels.
Well, you can guess what happened.

I use the local tip and always take the van and never had a problem.
Although I have noticed they have a sign on the gate where they charge for you to take your "DIY waste".
Cars £30 then the price goes up for a small van, large van etc. I can only see that causing more fly tipping to be honest.

I have a different experience.
Our local tip lets my van in without issue. Never been asked anything and they usually help me unload.
There's a sign and a height restriction thing on chains.
Sign says that if you hit the height thing you have to park outside and wheel any crap in I their little trolley things.
I had the roof rack on-hit the height thing. He sent me out, he apologised but said "I'm only doing my job" he was ok.
I had the choice of taking the roof rack off and driving in or wheeling the crap in on one of the trollies.
He would've helped too.

i used the cats protection van to get rid of some of my home rubbish plus some of theirs , broken toys mainly,
only to be told" stop unloading sir"     i told the guy my mrs got the  paperwork  which she has , but it turns out it entitles her to carry waste but not to dump it    again he told me to stop  unloading  and i totally ignored him  him getting totally  flustered said sir  i insist you stop now , by which time i had emptied the van  he then gave us the number of some council official to sort out the paperwork and it turned out to be unobtainable  w@ nkers

I get leaflets saying how environmentally friendly our local council is.
How they work with the local community to recycle waste...
I moved house 2 weeks ago and had 5 years of 'downsizing' stuff and rubbish to get rid of. I did everything in the correct way and even phoned the local council AND the local tip to get it right.
I had nothing but problems, made me feel like I was a fly tipper, checked everything.
I can't believe that we live in this 'recyclable' world and yet the council make it so difficult to get rid of anything.
And the best bit was that for every person working at the tip, 5 people were just standing round doing f''k all!

I replaced an old leisure battery recently and thought i would do the right thing and dispose or the old one at the local council recycling department ( the dump).
Drove in my van expecting a nice easy drop off and a pat on my back for being so enviromental friendly and after being told i would have to get my van weighed and possibly get charged for the privilege i decided to leave and dumped it in the bin instead.

last time I went to my local tip I had some free entertainment with one of the workers battering one of the local irish travellers for nicking scrap metal

Arsholes won't let you have any scrap batteries either. Funny how they fish all the best bicycles out of the metal skip and stack them neatly round the back.

Funny how they leap into action to help a pretty woman empty the car.

Funny how the local Eastern Europeans don't get questioned either.

I also believe they often put some of the offenders who get community service to work in some of these places, which explains a lot.

we have to register the car and the van,the van is only allowed 12 visits a year.

the guys are really helpful and let you get on with it.

no problems,if you are not registered then it flags up and you get stopped and get asked to fill out forms etc.
