One of my building management clients have asked me to remove a few small amounts of graffiti of a building wall.

It looks like spray paint in some places and maybe permanent marker in others.

Pretty sure it's a sandstone, large square, flat manufactured slabs. I have pics but it won't let me upload.

Can anyone recommend a decent chem because the ones I've tried in the past have been crap.

I'll second that.

Someone may come along with a concoction that has been put together at the bottom of their garden. This may involve wallpaper paste.

Kevin might have something if you can't get it off Tensid quickly enough.

How else are you getting ink out of sandstone?

i've just cleaned some indian sandstone that has some red paint of some sort that has been absorbed into the stone it's not sitting on top of it (i think someone has had a go at cleaning it and has smeared it about). the customer doesn't know what it is, it was some builders next door, it could be red oxide primer or something possibly or maybe a red gloss, but it's not a big area. i have some Dichloromethane in the garage, i know it's not meant to be used but due you think it will shift it with that or will it mark the stone?

Don't know if DCM will "go in deep enough" you would possibly better with a water based stripper .
Put a generous layer on on cover it over with cling film...it tends to go into the substrate deeper but takes longer than DCM stripper.
 Due to somebody trying to remove it with maybe some sort of solvent it has become a "stain" rather than a "coating". I would then use a high caustic cleaner on it.
Neither will damage the stone.

It is banned in the EU and if you do use it on sandstone you are likely to spread the red oxide stain even more.

Use a poultice to draw it out

Thanks guys. I've not used a poultice before, but I've just ordered some fullers earth so will give it a try. As far as a "high alkaline cleaner" I've got some sodium hydroxide would that do or is there a specific product I should be looking for?
