just doing some research how much do you pay for hire on a boom all Internet prices have to ring up for a quote! What would say one cost for a day for hire, fuel and delivery to clean a standard two story house roof? I know they all very but I don't have a clue!

I'm not IPAF trained so need an operator

Full day with operator is £300 from one company - niftylift 170 or
A local tree surgeon who has a 21 meter reach on a a wagon who charges me £200

Don't fancy the roof walking anymore ??

You will be very lucky to clean a two storey house using a std boom with access from one side, you would need 21m plus. Very few of the properties we clean have suitable access / ground around the property for a boom. Look at the pics posted on here some show ops going over the ridge with boom and cleaning using tele pole, using this method its impossible to clean the tile tails properly.
Booms great for open business parks, supermarkets domestics you will be limited unless you target bungalows

As someone who has been on it, a great course and with Kevins ongoing support you can't go far wrong. I am talking to him at the moment about a project that has come in and though he is expecting me at his place tomorrow I am going to text him now and let him know I am on my way down today, en route to another last minute @ Bournemouth.

Darren don't take this as having a dig,I don't do roofs hardly ever so wouldn't know what is really the best technique but, if that's one of your staff, get him to wear his hard hat.

I was under the assumption health and safety wise that a hard hate must be worn in a boom, correct me if I'm wrong. Either way I always wear mine.

Access is our biggest headache.

Not sure Neil, the guy who does our high access is a qualified trainer and has never mentioned it,

I can only say ( and not being padantic but what's going to fall on his head ?? ) but those on the ground should be wearing a hard hat

Same with safety boots, I was told you must wear them but can't see why you can't just wear standard boots.

You could say the same about a cyclist though, nothing is going to fall on his head but if he fell off (same as falling out of a boom) then hard hat/helmet is a safety feature.

Yes I'm sure someone will know, do hard hats have chin straps ?

As regard to safety boots I always wore them when I was an engineer, they were supplied FOC but people still used to wear trainers, a lot of H&S is not mandatory law, you must supply PPE but does not mean people must wear it, (although these things change constantly)

Trainers/ light weight walking boots  "on the roof"  they are flexible and afford more grip.
If it's a "construction" site it's different.
