I seem to spend ages waiting around for my tank to fill up, it's alright when I have a constant feed to it but today we're working about 200m away from the tap and wasting to much time filling up my 400l tank before moving round the building to carry on cleaning, currently using 50m of garden hose but would a bigger diameter hose be any quicker?

Yes Lee I believe so, you get less back pressure/friction in bigger hose diameters.

after using a standpipe where I could only attach 1" diameter hose, I continued using it for normal works ( waste not want not ) and have noticed that in low water pressure areas the tank fills quicker than in the past using 1/2" garden hose

I thought about getting 3/4 hose but i cant fit enough on my fill hose reel.

Darren what connector do you use to fit it on a tap as I wouldn't mind getting about 15m of 1' for filling up.
In the end we had 50m of 3/4, 50m of 1/2 and then 100m of micro bore all joined up  tricking in to the tank just to keep running longer between fill ups.
Will hire a bowser next time.

My 21ltr a minute machine emptys my wheelie bin quite quickly when customers feed isn't great I was thinking how the hell people with 30 ltrs a minute machines cope!

There won't be many people with 30 LPM machines that don't have an onboard tank, at a minimum of 1000 litres

I've been working tonight and it has Just took short of 2 hours to fill my tank, from a Sainsbury's service yard, filler hose was 150 m long. Emptied in 1 hour if I had not had it on permanent fill

I see you have just over half an hour flat out without filling up bit like mine my tank is smaller but I'm only using 21 ltrs a minute I suppose it's all about how quick you can fill your tank and weather you ease off now and again so tank catches up a bit

I am sure there will be a way of working out, what goes in (LPM) to what goes out via the pressure washer and then how much is filling on constant and then doing some daft mathematics will giv you the additional time gained from a full tank on permanent fill.

I tried to make that make sense but i've confused myself now.

Change your nozzles (lance/whirlaway) for a slightly smaller ones.. turn down the revs on the machine.
You will then be operating at the same pressure but with reduced flow ...your machine will be better matched to your water feed . You can continue cleaning without stopping. As long as the water feed is realistic.
Go for an 055 in your lance and 025's in your flat surface cleaner...you should not suffer too much in performance . Your machine will then be operating at 200bar @ 17 lpm assuming it's a 200bar 21lpm pump.
Your customer won't have to watch you not cleaning whilst he is paying you.

Anyway,  not to go off topic, I'd rather be bashing out the work full throttle, and having the odd natural break than faffing around balancing nozzles, and revs for my machine, if I did that I might have well got a little poxy thing in the first place.
