lichen on sills
« on: October 30, 2014, 07:02:16 pm »
ive got a UPVC and window clean to do on sat morning.not a big job but it will be a new regular window cleaning customer so i want to do a top job.

theres a fair bit of lichen on the 2 upper sills at the front of the property.what the best way to get it off?

im thinking of  cleaning all f/s/g and windows with very hot pure water and virosol and any lichen left get up the ladder with cif and non scratch scourer.

how do you guys get this stubborn stuff off?

many thanks

I find those kitchen sponges quite good for scrubbing this sort of stuff the rougher side its course but soft enough not to scratch.

We have some plastic scrapers, but a credit card would do, soak with chem then scrape.

Just labeled as ultra, been testing it very good for lichen and wood framed windows, but seemed to struggle on algae when cleaning FSG for some reason

I use  kitchen scourer and cream cleaner mixed with 2 table spoons of ammonia which you can buy from Home base .I know its not safe if you are a numpty but then why do they sell it. Or mix two table spoons of thick beach with cream cleaner. Both work very well.
