Bought a 35ft slx last week and my word is it whippy! Needs some Viagra! We used it on a large office block this morning and it was so bendy, now I understand it's a 35ft pole, but we didn't over extend it at all, and I am suprised how bendy it is? My expectations were high because everyone says how impressed they are with slx's. Now I'm sure there good poles, but perhaps anuthing over 30ft needs to be an extreme. We use 25ft facelift Phoenix poles, and yes there 10ft shorter, but they are a lot more rigid, which is suprising as they are so thin in comparison to all gardiner poles!

Don't get offended people, I know we all 'love gardiner poles' on this forum, but we were really quite suprised at the bendy nature of these slx's.

Yeah I think your right.

Anything over 30 feet and you will very much notice the whip.

I have a slx 25 and have used a facelift 25 and the the slx is more rigid. It's just the height that makes your slx whippy.

Even the new smax might be better than the slx35

Yeah I couldn't afford the s max in the end, of be interested to see how an 18ft slx compares to a facelift 18ft, as facelift is quite a bit cheaper.

We found it hard to get the brush to really splay and scrub the glass with the slx35, it was hard to get any decent pressure and scrubbing power...

Using superlite brush by the way.

i used my slx39 for the first time today and that was really whippy even with an extreme brush but it is a tall pole and i imagine most tall poles have whip in them no matter what you do once they go over a certain height, i had to extend it against the wall, bloody great though knowing i could get to these high windows that have been laughing at me and my slx22 for months!!

Yeah I guess i was just suprised at how bendy they are at that height, heavy too!

At that height you need a soft or medium mixed  Xtreme , Not a chance of using an SL

when you ve got a full workload and earning plenty of money sell the slx poles and just buy extreme poles and use extreme brushes.

seriously guys they are worth their weight in gold if your poling day in/day out.well worth the money.the new extremes have metal inserts which will dramatically reduce wear on the clamping sections.

i spent £1,600 on an extreme 25 and 47,goosenecks and brushes.best thing ive invested in for an easier working day for sure.

no need if you use hot water.extreme stiff brushes and hot water.perfect combination.

Can't justify xtreme poles yet, I don't  do enough high level work to pay out that much, my 25ft facelift x reaches 90% of my work

Scrubbing power is somewhat reduced if your not getting good bristle splay hence a softer lighter  brush

Use gutters to extend a long pole, much easier

Hi mate there was no lower gutters to rest it on but I understand what you mean I've done that many times!
What are the extremes like for wearing out though as I understand they're thinner in the wall of the tube then normal poles aren't they?, I had a go of a extreme 25 and to be honest it didn't make a great deal of difference for me, the biggest thing that made a difference for me is the brush I use the extreme brush everyday now but when I go back to a superlite for first cleans etc it feels like a brick!

extreme pole is whippy compared to a modular SL pole as well. You could always use a higher pole than you need and take the first (top) whippy section off making it more rigid than before like they use to sell on the original MK 1 SLx's.

I know its swearing on here but you could always by a second hand fishing pole
and convert to a modular wfp pole.

Ive got a maver 16mtr pole I bought from a charity shop £150 would
of been over a£1000 brand new easily gets me to 40ft weighs less
than 900grams.

Ideal if like me you only do the occasional higher level work, I think
ive used it twice

i have an Ionics 45 , no bending light as can be , but it did cost £900. + vat, ouch

I use a slx with a cill brush and they do whip but still have good control.
