Not sure what you mean by frames that are stuck on and falling off?

No if you take reasonable care there is no reason why wfp is more detrimental than cleaning with a cloth by hand.

3. Flaking of paintwork on wooden windows
Poor preparation and incorrect application of paint or old weathered paintwork is what it is. In my experience uv rays are a major factor in damaging exterior paintwork. For example if wfp damaged painted window frames all of the windows on a property would all look the same.
But this is not the case, time and time again I have seen one side of a property look noticeably worse than the rest so it can't be due to wfp.

1. No because the soap you use to clean these fake Georgian windows eats into the glue quicker. Since going wfp had less come unstuck.

2. Depends on brush. Normal brush yes. Soft brush no.

3. Again opposite. Customer have noted they are painting windows less.  Guessing it was soap getting in between glass and wood and lifting paint.

All are user controlled.

I could turn up to any house and scrub like mad and knock off these fake bars, take chunks out of wooden frames and scrub like made to rip lead off.

Crikey tosh I only wanted answers to my questions. I just wanted to know if people felt wfp did accelerate these things. It was more to lessen my concerns about the three things I mentioned but judging by your reply the answer is yes to all three.

It's only what I have noticed. I used to use a harsh soap when I was trad and it used to turn scrims white on wooden frames. But it did eat the dirt!

Deege, lots of windows round my way have plastic bars stuck on to make them look Georgian or even four paned instead of two . Over time the glue fails and the strips fall off. Just wondered if people thought it happened quicker with wfp. Also if u think wfp flakes paint quicker do u trad or avoid wooden windows.

Deege, lots of windows round my way have plastic bars stuck on to make them look Georgian or even four paned instead of two . Over time the glue fails and the strips fall off. Just wondered if people thought it happened quicker with wfp. Also if u think wfp flakes paint quicker do u trad or avoid wooden windows.

Most of the concerns you have will been caused by heavy handedness, but you can get poorly constructed windows that will
cause you problems.
I priced one with the stuck on strips a few years back, the owner had already called the supplier out to replace some that had
come off, I could see that a few more had started to come loose so didn't bother with the job as me rubbing them with a brush
wouldn't have helped.
The paint needs to have flaked already for you to remove it with your brush so its not wfp that flakes windows, its the sun
and poor maintenance.

Its true! Nothing to do with heavy handedness, new builds now use cheapest possible windows and i have knocked a couple of plastic bits off easily and i am by far one of the slowest water fed polers

Totally agree, another down side to this is that a lot of these cheap windows don't take well to WFP which will cause problems
to some in the future.
