Water fed pole techniques and reaching difficult windows?
« on: October 19, 2014, 04:02:48 pm »

I used my trolley and pole for first time.   I was told to brush the top of windows first then the rest then clean the top again so that it drips down and rinses any stains below, right?   After I finished practising on my girlfriend's house it was cleaner than before, but there were some stubborn stains which I couldn't get rid of.  What's the general technique for wfp?   Windows on the first floor- the stains can't be seen, so how do you know if you're missing a difficult stain?  To get these off do you need to put a scrapper on pole?

The window in the picture was difficult to reach, so I just climbed a window and put my new ionic's Grafter (which bent a fair bit on it)  It was pretty much horizontal.   Is this how you would reach this window?

You may find that window is easier to do from the side rather than head on...
I find a sill brush helps as well...
Why don't you have a quick google before making stupid comments?

hi buzzing

wash the frames 1st and rinse, then go back and do all the glass just a fraction below the top frame and then rinse the glass.

the window above the garage do from the side if possible, get yourself a resii-neck swivel like this.....

 http://www.gardinerpolesystems.co.uk/acatalog/resi-neck-quick-release-type-1-swivel.html

it will help a lot with angles like that.

personally if i could not reach from the side i would jump up on the roof and do the window above the garage traditional, make sure you always walk along the edges of the roof, not across the center

Personally I would get up on the roof and clean them, I find it can be hard and back busting to control the pole form the side plus it looks a if you would have to go into next doors property to get at it from the side.
As Tony has stated just be careful where you walk on the roof and avoid on a frosty day.
Extend the pole and lean it against the roof this means you don't have to carry it up with you.

cleaning the window above the flat roof is no problem from the front or the side with an extreme 25 and brush.this is where its worth its weight in gold.i have lots of windows set back over flat roofs/connys and extensions.saves a lot of time and faffing with a ladder.much safer too.

i seen a lad who works for another window cleaner the other day really struggling with a brodex ali pole and brush cleaning a window similar to the one in the photo.i just smiled to myself and carried on with my days work. :)

price higher/work harder!

From side or front either a doddle just stick the brush on a flatter angle
from front opposite if doing from side..i could do it easily with a old
opitilock pole.

After you do the frames and then rinse the frames- do you wait 5 mins or so before going back and doing the glass?   I guess if you do the glass straight away drips from the sills will ruin them.
