May get this purchase of van, citroen dispatch 16 hdi,   65000 miles, £4400.

im in 2 minds as to hang out for a 2.0 litre model,    all reviews are of sluggish workhorse,  turbo trouble, etc.

does anyone on here use a 16 litre model.  if so is it worth the money spent,

or would i regret it at a later date if i did get it.
ive waited long enough      i can still wait for right van to be seen in my area

I bought a mint 2010 1.6 hdi three weeks ago for £3750 no vat with 69k on. Total bargain & I've been looking for some time.

I wouldn't say it's under powered but if I was doing lengthy motorway journeys on a regular basis then I would opt for the 2.0. Having said that, I'm only currently carrying 400lts but it handles it as if it wasn't there. I am going to be putting a 500ltr tank in soon. Very roomy vans. The engine didn't bother me as I don't travel fast anyway, I would have had either engine it was more a case of everything else being right.

The 1.6 is "apparently" (dont shoot the messenger) very troublesome, i happened to look into it myself the other day and a lot of reviews theyve been trouble, i asked my mechanic and he said whatever you do dont get 1.6. Go for 2.0 every day.

I had a 2l hdi Enterprise around that year - lovely van and much quicker than my Toyota Hiace. Double sliding doors and loads of storage in the cab.

I've run a 1250 Multijet Fiat Doblo with 400 ltrs for 4.5 years with zero issues, so I'm confident a 1.6 is more than up to the job!! Paid £3250 for that van & sold it for £1500 with no tax or test. £2250 for 4.5 years trouble free motoring- not bad eh?

Iv been driving one for about 6 years its an 07 1.6 and the only problem Iv had so far is a cv boot coming
loose on the front wheel, fixed it myself.
They can be a costly brute to service very time consuming to work at, you want to try getting at the air filter.
Would I get one again, the answer is yes but like all vehicles you can get a bad one.

yes,  they still sell for over £5000+ for 80-90,000 miles +,    vans.
ill decide today.

im picking one of these up tomorrow on a 57 plate im pretty mechanically minded built fast road cars etc and the main course for engine problem is the cat runs behind the turbo oil feed so acts a cooker and carbonises oil in the turbo feed and various other parts best thing is over service with quality oil also could be worth fitting new turbo oil feed pipe for piece of mind tho a good mechanic will be able to check for top end oil pressure. so basically poor serviced example = starved turbo which crapes itself and fills the engine with turbo bits lol. quality services is the asnswer regular hope this info helps your decission

also bear in mind all other vehicles have there own problems, vivraos gearbox and bottom mount letting go destroying the engine when the aux belt wrapes itself in the timing setup, transits have injector problems and fuel pump ecu etc

you can get them for around 10k brand new, why even take the risk buying used?

the 1.6 is gutless because it only has peak torque of 180nm, which by modern standards is pretty poor
