roof cleaning/scraping from ground
« on: October 18, 2014, 10:19:46 am »
hi

one of my customers wants me to clean some barn roof's that he's got that are covered in moss. they're only single storey (but with quite a high pitch) and are old clay tiles. i want to avoid getting up on the roof and start breaking them. i've got some carbon wfp poles that i don't use anymore that i would like to use to scrape them but need some sort of tool that will fit a gardiner pole or an acme thread. or would a stiff brush be enough to get rid of the worst before applying algoclear? does anyone scrape the moss off with poles and if yes any suggestions on scrapers or whatever i can attach to a wfp pole?

The father in law tried this in conjunction with his omni vac on a bungalow a few years back, yes it removed the moss to a degree you could use algoclear to finish the job, downside it took them a day and a half (one side only) even with various scrapers, brushes etc..

Oh yes, if was really hard work as well!

Personally for a couple of old barns hire a cherry picker and blast them

Thank you Terry McDonald , Wfp with turbo nozzle on the end will deal with this without the need to get on the roof.  I do a fair few like this!

Using an adapted WFP with turbo nozzle from the gutter doesn't make him an expert. Mike Roberts Great Outdoors & In is a roof cleaning expert.
