thinking of ordering an slx 22 does it extend long enough for the awkward windows above conservatorys etc

As long as you are trying to reach from either side of a standard conservatory the SLX22 should reach. For domestic work this is my favourite length pole.

You ask some really stupid questions for someone that's run a window cleaning business before ???

what stupid about the question did u not know different manufacturers sell poles some with human reach included so cud be 22ft with 3ft reach makes it a 25ft and they market it this way where others just market the pole as the actual length

Seems like you have the gist of it..so why bother asking ;D

got the jist of it but didnt know how gardiners market there poles thats all

Hi Richy

We do not particularly 'market' our poles, we just list them with their actual weights and lengths - http://www.gardinerpolesystems.co.uk/acatalog/clx-slx-super-max-telescopic-poles.html

It may be that your SLX-30 has trapped dirt between the sections. Stripping it down and cleaning it fully may free it up a good bit.

I started with a slx30 but bought a slx22 base section. The 30 gives you enough length to reach comfortably over a conny as I found the 22 just a bit too short - I was working at full stretch too much. Most of the time I drop the last couple of sections and stick the 22 base on for a lighter, more user-friendly pole. It's a cheap way of having two poles.

Why an earth would you buy an extra section to replace a section that you already have , You just simply remove an add sections as and when needed , Thats what i do i use a 22ft for most of work no point over straining .

Because of the extra shiny factor on the base section. I'm like a magpie. Only not owned by Mike Ashley. Also the base is newer and therefore more likely to last longer to the rigours of everyday wear than my four year old sections of slx30. And because I had to spend a little extra prior to coughing up to the tax man. And because I wanted to.
The good thing about science is that it's true whether you believe it or not.

because of the wear and tear over last two year alex we just did what we could with it when i re took over the business my employee had to really tighten the clamps for the pole too work which means quite a lot of effort pulling sections out its workable, we have taken it apart and cleaned it but think the sections were still spinning

would you recommend new clamps

id buy the new smart clamps richy and replace.dont saw the pole, just the old clamps then prise off.glue on the new ones then spray the pole with clear car lacquer.allow to dry overnight then re assemble.should be good as new then and last you another 2 years mate. :)
price higher/work harder!

I would recommend new clamps as these will probably restore the pole to almost 'as new' action. Here is a link to them - http://www.gardinerpolesystems.co.uk/acatalog/Gardiner-Smart-Clamp-DIY-Upgrade-Kits-ClampII_SET.html

Here is a video link showing how to replace them - http://youtu.be/MUW1WpzfpyE
