Watches
« on: October 12, 2014, 10:17:30 am »
What watches do people use for work? I have broken two now, both with sentimental value and want something a bit tougher that's waterproof. I can't be doing with reaching into my pocket for my phone to see the time.

Surely you dont need a watch for work its hardly the hardest thing stopping for a few seconds to check the time if needed .

I hardly ever check the time whilst working , Only when i get back to truck usually .

This is the one I've got: http://www.gshock.com/watches/?id=A5FE5CD6-553F-4EE7-8D5D-EBEFAA43873C

Had it nearly 3 years cost about £100, no problems at all. Can't remember where I got it from now.

Watches are banned( edited - this tongue in cheek for those who have stability problems ) I've trialled 2 people who wore a watch for work both spent most of the day looking at that rather than working, then huffing and puffing because we were still working at 4 pm.

I used to wear a Rolex on each wrist, so i could see what the time was whatever i was doing. Now I just look to see what angle the sun is in the sky.

Better banning mobile phones I'd think. Perhaps I'm old fashioned. I like to time some jobs to see if they are underpriced.

Never had any of the guys use mobile while working, maybe just those with watches were obsessed with time, taking breaks, not working a minute over what they thought was the end of the day.

. . . . So she said 'is that your ring dear?'

And I replied 'No it's my wrist-watch'.

Think about it. . . . . .

Think you need to read the posts again Danny ( very slowly, well slower than you can normally manage ) then you'd actually understand something other than your usual misguided, vitriolic posts

Got to admit I thought your post was a little odd. I read it literally also - that you had banned watches because people that wore them spent all day looking at them. Depending on the age group people employ I was a little surprised as very few "youngsters" wear watches these days and hence my thinking that mobile phones would present a greater distraction.

I dont wear a watch...for some reason it seems my jobs take ages when i wear one...
Put my pole down, have a look at my watch...and when i pick the pole back up (for some unknown reason) nothing seems to have been done but a few minutes have gone!!!

Since i cant work out why nothing gets done when i wear a watch, i refuse to wear one...
Why don't you have a quick google before making stupid comments?

Sorry for the confusion 8 weekly, was said in jest and edited the post.

Never had a problem with mobiles, all the guys have them but none use them constantly, in fact we probably text them the most with work updates etc..
