so who uses hot water in winter?
« on: October 09, 2014, 10:20:19 pm »
so 5 days in using hot water every day on every job(including last friday).

my set up is working like a dream at the moment.i had lots of trouble last winter with blown connectors and burst hoses due to the fact my pump didnt shut off quick enough after i turned tap off at brush end.so my L5 had loads of water pumping into it creating lots of pressure!

this time around i have my pump set at 60 with calibration on 17 and my pump is shutting off within 10 seconds so no problems!

im not sure why everythings working fine now but i use thermobore plus now which is 8mm minibore with rectus 26 connectors and all brass fittings on heater and a solid sturdy redashe koreel hi vis 100 reel.

ive had lots of bigger 8 weekly jobs this week to clean near trees, shrubs and main roads and i have to say ive defo been quicker on most of these by 5 or 10 mins using hot water.

it defo dissolves the dirt/snail trails/birdmuck,fly/bee spots so much quicker.ive not had to use my scraper on any jobs this week!

the next few weeks ive got a few full UPVC cleans and a large glass conny roof to fit in around my regular work.im almost looking forward to cleaning them now lads!! ;D ;D

i reckon its costing me around £3 a day in gas to use hot water all day every day.i can live with that through the winter months for sure!loving it! ;)

While I admire your gusto and enthusiasm dazmondo I've never noticed any real benefit other than a tank of hot water keeps the vans frost free and hoses supple which is a great advantage from November through to February.

If it's that good why are you not using it all year round ?

Thought about it last year but the professional set up was 4k as a bolt on system!! couldn't justify that for the 1 or 2 days we loose over the winter!

Not cold enough to use mine yet. Waste of money if you ask me.

same set up as you Daz and have to agree that you get a faster clean especially with snail trails and bird muck, the same analogy could apply to dirty dishes, how many of you at home wash up with cold water..?

Washing dishes! No need for that kind of language on here.

If your getting the same on your windows as on dishes I would move to a new neighbourhood ;D, plus try cleaning dishes
with hot water alone and see how far you get.
From what I have read over the last few years there doesn't seem to be any financial benefit to using hot water, some people
just prefer working with it.

Because I am in south london its a bit warmer here than up north so never needed a hot water system.

I think in 3 years I had a issue once, perhaps twice where the water froze in the joints or on the snow.

But I have insulated my van last year and I have a little van heater for those -5 nights.

There's a guy on here called Dezmond I think. Took his out last February and basically said it was a waste of money and a total pain in the arse.

Warm water here - immersion heater. Not started this year yet.

It's a game of three halves!
