richy i dont offer gutter clearing anymore.i havent done for years now.no need.

plenty of regular window cleaning,f/s/g,conny roof cleaning and solar panel jobs to be cracking on with from the safety of the ground.i still earn a good wedge! ;)
price higher/work harder!

due to the fact that i realised there wasnt as much work as i thought there was when i got the business back, i had coupon knocked up on newsletter i gave out to try and build up the work etc for me and the employee which has worked very well

its not so much the heights that worrys me just the safety aspect, think ill be investing in a gutter vac system in the future

I wouldn't be sending an employee up a ladder. What if he falls?
I'd do it myself first.

With a small business I'd say don't book jobs that you can't cover yourself, you'll always be the back-up.

What safety aids did you use?   A fellow CIU poster recommended one on here for gutters and it's ideal.   Here it is: -

what i meant was i have quite a few houses in this close so we both would have been there so one could foot the ladder etc , i dont usually have problem going up ladders just with it being the first time for 18 months or more i was a bit paranoid

safety aids were two big plant pots ;D ;D

on some of the job there was a small wall i could use to fix the bottom of ladder into

I've got one of these and I hate doing gutters without them.

I used to go up and down ladders all day long, I didn't need this sort of thing back then. This wouldn't be much use on a trad round, a bit cumbersome and time consuming.

For the occasional ladder job I do nowadays I wouldn't go up a ladder without it.

MEVER put ladders on a a surface which does not look stable or dry,    do not go out of your way to please your customers or think its too easy money ,    It is life threatening up that height.

We are all confident ,    but if you fall you may be crippled for life, even end up in a wheel chair or worse for your family.

Young lads cannot see the danger,  they are too clever for it to happen to them.

If you or anyone else  are not comfortable ,     tell them you will look for someone to do it.

If you do any get a ladder stabilliser or any other safety equipment.

Have confidence but be 100%  safe in your work.

Richy, if you fall you could end up in a swingy chair for the rest of your life. You wouldn't want that would you?

Well you might I suppose.
