Yes I have 6 months worth of living expenses banked with TSB earning me 5% interest per year.
Does anyone pay themselves a wage? You'd have to be disciplined but it could help you be more disciplined. I've done something based very loosely on this in the past but soon got lax again. It's more like an easily achievable living allowance every week or month. If you earn more don't touch it and if you do less, dip in. It can mean you're less motivated but also less stressed.

You can have 2 accounts per person plus 2 joint accounts, so basically 6 accounts (per couple) x £2k = £12k x 5%. The conditions are that you must pay in at least £500 per month from a non TSB account so just set up a DD from your current account and send it straight back.
