New to WFP so want to get pole that I can use on residential and 3-4 floor flats so was recommended the ionic glyder plus in size 30ft!?
Is it the best I can get for £500?
Or are gardiners better?

Most would recommend gardiners poles, it would be best to have two poles, a short 18ft for residential and then maybe a gardiner slx30 for the higher work, so perhaps look on gardiners website at the slx range, even the clx18 would be great for residential to start you off with! You wont enjoy using a larger pole for everyday work as they are heavier and longer when fully closed which can be really frustrating with everyday houses,

So my preference is two poles. One 18ft and one 30ft

The extreme (Gardiners) is a much lighter pole but much more delicate.

Below 30' the Gardiners SLX is my weapon of choice, below 50'-extreme.

What's your reason for not preferring the extreme at say 25 feet?

I use a slx 25 and I'm toying with getting an extreme 25.

Trying to do my research before I spend my hard earned cash.

i have a 25ft extreme and it makes working day much easier .

I had glider plus and it was heavy and bendy , if you can't afford an extreme an slx is the way to go .

The raised clamping sections.
They'd wear down too quickly (I feel) for the way I work.
And as their more fragile, you can't to things like tap a window shut with it. (Perhaps someone will disagree with that but for my £500 pole-I wouldn't risk it.
And I am not a fan if the extreme brushes for residential work.
If you put a super-light on an Extreme it feels really heavy.

Ah ok.

I see where your coming from. I don't like extreme brushes as I feel there too light so mayb the extreme pole would feel a bit top heavy with a super lite or tecbuk brush on it.

How long would you say you will get out your extreme pole before needing to replace?

It depends how you look after it .

The raised sections can be laquered to help with wear , very quick to do .....i haven't bothered personally.

i have shut many windows with it but if a window is too stiff to shut i wouldn't bother whatever pole in was using .

I don't think they ar as fragile as some people make out .

One pole does it all SLX30 for the highest of your work then when doing the average house take 2 sections and use as that on a daily basis you will need an end cap for section 4 ,

SLX30 lot cheaper than £500 get an Xtreme brush as well and you wont regret it in over 6 years i have never considered an Ironics pole and that wont change .

i have carpet tape on raised sections(1 and 2) on my extreme 25 which reduces wear.they are a lot more robust than people think.new extremes come with metal bands on the clamping sections i think which is great IMO.

I SHUT WINDOWS ALL THE TIME WITH MY EXTREME but obviously if window is really stiff a just clean them the best i can while open.

18 footer too short for lots of my work so i just use the 25 ft as every day pole and 47 footer for anything higher.
