Sealant Removal
« on: October 03, 2014, 03:34:17 pm »
My brother, unbeknown to me, has gone and had his roof pressure washed and sealed by someone, and they've covered his windows, glass balustrades, and....£80k Range Rover Sport and £40k BMW 5 series.

So, aside from laughing and telling him he should've asked us to do it, what product removes sealant?

The product used was a B&Q branded sealer.

Just claim on the monkeys PL - tha'ts what its for. My mate has a painting firm and the bill to sort the cars when he painted a warehouse and most of the carpark of the units next door came to about £32k  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
He also had one of his painters had a row with his missus who then kicked a tin of claddex over the plain concrete walls - I had to get that off and that wasn't cheap because his other option was to paint the walls round the entire unit.
When they say airless spraying they also need windless conditions - I might add things like this are never funny  ;D ;D ;D ;D

By the sounds of it, this fella won't have any PLI.

My brother did say it was windy when the guy was applying it, some folk really don't have a clue.

There's 2 brand new motors on the drive, and your 20 foot above them spraying a sealer about!

If it was a B& Q Branded sealer the chances are that some PSRP XTreme Clean will get it off!!!

I could reccommend Miracle Mira Streip but that will strip the paint off the cars as well ;D ;D ;D

Seriously try the PSRP product first.  Yes I do sell it ;D

PSRP X-Treme is a fast acting concentrated high alkaline cleaner and degreaser. It is designed to remove most wax, grease, oil, light soap scum, mildew and algae. Effectively removes most factory applied waxes, floor finishes and is ideal for areas that have been neglected or subject to heavy use.
USES
Use on all natural stone, grout, ceramic, porcelain, terracotta, saltillo, quarry tiles, terrazzo, concrete, pavers and masonry surfaces.

Most of the B&Q Sealers I tried albeit quite a few years ago washed off with warm water or a pH Neutral Cleaner.

So why make a statement like this:

B&Q have some excellent sealers

Somehow the Words "Excellent" and "B&Q" just don't seem to go together do they???

The definition of Excellent

:   very good, superb, outstanding, magnificent, of high quality, of the highest quality, of the highest standard, exceptional, marvellous, wonderful, sublime, perfect, eminent, pre-eminent, matchless, peerless, supreme, first-rate, first-class, superior, superlative, splendid, admirable, worthy, sterling, fine; More

As Bob sung ..."The times they are a changing".
Did you put 4* in your car to get there...people travel by electric cars nowadays.
B&Q are becoming real serious competitors even for building merchants...open at 7am close at 8ish.
Trade cards for contractors, hire plant, better range of products then builders merchants with cheaper prices etc

My guy used our hot WFP system on the windows, and water from the kettle when using hand tools to see if it would help.

He said it was almost like Vaseline, just spreading and smearing without coming off.

B&Q have never been serious about anything they sell! They care about one thing and that is profit. Any serious pro doesn't go anywhere near the place unless they are desperate! ;D ;D
