Pay Pal card reader
« on: September 22, 2014, 09:10:58 pm »
I have a lot of customers who like to pay me when I clean but don't always have cash.

Consequently I have been looking at card payment terminals but upto press not had a lot of luck.

One of my custies mentioned a paypal card terminal, has anyone used or looked into these.

Yep i got one.

Bluetooth link it to ya phone and take payments.

Its good but relies on 3g! most time waiting a door step was 2 mins watching a circle spin :/

What is good is you can genuinely take card payment on big jobs. Just remember about the fee!

I have managed to blag to jobs on the fact they can pay by credit card.

Battery life is an issue BUT i learnt a neat trick from PAYPAL.

For £50 its well worth it, as no monthly fees :)

Have you thought about Go Cardless - very cheap its basically a direct debit and YOU claim payment when you have done the clean - very easy to set up - we have over a 120 on this method now
Never argue with an idiot, they will only bring you down to their level, and beat you with experience

When you are NOT using it press and hold the power button for 5 seconds. This then put it into a coma. To wake it up, press and hold the power button. Takes about 20 seconds for the reader to "wake up" Over a week i lost 8% battery. If you just switch it off then you will loose around 60% over night!

I don't see the point of going out to collect via a card reader. Your driving and walking just to give a % plus 20p to Paypal ??? if Paypal went out and knocked on the doors then I would sign up.

It's another tool for payments. Doesn't mean every customer uses it.

I use izettle no monthly fees & only £20 to buy the card reader that fits to the bottom of my iPhone, they just take a % of each transaction, it just needs aWifi signal or 3G to connect to.
