« on: September 16, 2014, 01:23:43 pm »
Got a call this morning for a quote for 300m2,  washing + resanding.  what charges would you chaps charge,    block paving,     i havent looked at it yet.
Norton region      outside Stockton

would this be ok with turbo only,      how long would i expect to take to clean it,

only jobs have been front driveways.      pressure washer = 16lpm.
any advice would be apreciatted.     i have more window cleaning work  now ,  but still have a couple of days free weekly.

Johnny

My approach would be to turbo nozzle, if dirty - moss, algae growth, black spot but if it is just general grime i'd go over it with the FSC and rinse off, spot removal.

Chuck a load of sand down and brush in - when dry.

How long is it going to take you, from your previous experience?
How much travelling there and back?
What do you want to earn, against what you earn on the glass?

What can be achieved in a day is a massive variable, some might be able to get through that in a day, others may be a couple of days.

Put a couple of pictures up and let people see

Depends on the state it's in. You gotta look at it. 300m2 could take as long as 500m2 if it's in a bad state. Don't be cheap. The big jobs are usually the ones you get stung on as the big firms want it doing for peanuts.

Always Fsc first, otherwise your cleaning in lines with a turbo and cleaning it at different heights usually. Always Fsc then turbo for edges and tough weeds. Does the job better, uniform clean on surface of blocks.  If you use Turbo nozzle all over  it will help contribute to white finger! Long periods on the gun are bad for your fingers. We know from experience. Plus we jam a ball in the trigger of the Fsc to reduce vibrations to fingers from that. If only we did this from when we started

What triggers are you using because that isn't my experience?

Similarly if you are leaving lines on block paving then you aren't doing your job properly.

He has 16 LPM, split that is 8 LPM on each arm of the FSC, I can pee harder than that and it won't cut the dirt deep enough. Use the full flow through the turbo nozzle, with the additional PSI, of the nozzle and if you do it properly you won't need to go over it twice and will sweep all the weeds and debris as you go along.

Football has just finished and i've been thinking about this.

There is no right and wrong, he needs to give it a go on the two options and see what works best in these particular circumstances.

I don't like using FSC's if there is anything like weed or moss on the surface and would happily go on that with the turbo but that is my preference, others see it differently.

The turbo's I use are much bigger than a standard one so that is taken into consideration in my response and because of them we can get a larger area cleaned for the same effort.

Whichever way - learn from the experience and if you price it wrong you will certainly know for next time.

VWF is, I am sure, a not very nice medical condition but I don't suffer at all with any hand fatigue because the lances are fitted with Suttner triggers and they are much easier on all parts of the hand.

If finances are tight and better triggers are unaffordable then a pair of gloves, specifically to counter the problem are an easy option, although not that much cheaper than Suttners.

Turbo all the way no messing, what's the water supply like? as it seems to be the only thing that really slows me down.
Two easy days work plus ex's then a bit more for luck.

Rob whats the model of the suttner trigger you use. Been looking on their website. Are they that much easier to use on the hands?

I don't know which model I have but have a look here -

I think Lee uses them as well and a couple of others. They might be able to be more specific.

Definitely get one - you will be surprised

I use the easywash 365. Good easy to pull trigger. Last a while too.
