Crikey, I won!
« on: September 12, 2014, 07:45:51 am »
Hi lads and lasses,

I'm a bit of a keen photographer and just won £500 in a competition: http://www.icatcare.org:8080/photography-competition

I have also created a website to show some of my work. http://carlwelsby.smugmug.com/

I'd be made up if you could have a look and Share and Like the site using the buttons at the bottom of the home page. Have a look at some of the pics and let me know what you think.

Cheers

Carl

Hey nice pictures. I used to be a professional photographer. I qualified with
The master photographers association and the BIPP in the wedding category. What kit
Are you using? I use the canon 5d great kit. Use Adobe Lightroom to process.
Nice processing on the cat, and lovely subtle vignetting on the edges.
Cheers chez

Cheers all for the nice comments! Not a member of All Things Photography, but might have a look.

Chez - I use a Sony A99 plus a range of new and legacy lenses, Lightroom and Photoshop CC on subscription.

Great shots Carl. You should start a thread on the other topics section for people to submit their best shots.

Fame at last: http://www.tivysideadvertiser.co.uk/leisure/whatson/11468287.Window_cleaner_scoops_photography_prize/

Well done cool photo!
Yeah, that's why I thought it was window cleaning relevant (sorry, should have posted that link).

In fact I wrote the text for the article word for word and sent it to them along with the photo. I thought that it might get the business name out there and also drive traffic to https://www.facebook.com/CarlWelsbyPhotography?ref=bookmarks and more importantly http://carlwelsby.smugmug.com/ Seems it worked. It's what we used to do in the travel business - write a press release that can be verified plus an image or two and Bob's your uncle. Mags and papers need content and if it's easy for them to use yours you stand a good chance. Just mentioning this in case it's of any use to anyone.  Cheers!
