I am a window cleaner with two full time vans at the moment but shortly ill be looking for another van/operator.

My question is.... could i get a carpet cleaner for a budget of £500 ?   Ive been looking for a while and have seen some but not sure if they any good.

This could be a popular add on.

Ill be cleaning predominately domestic customers.....

What poles though? Is it a decent system?

The reason I'm asking is because, buying a £500 carpet cleaner is just like having one brodex pole and a trolley or backpack.

Buying a decent carpet cleaner, with everything to go with it, sprayers, agitator, wand, stair tool, heater, etc is like buying a decent wfp setup with decent range of poles etc.

The short answer is a very emphatic 'NO!'
If you're going to get into carpet cleaning then do it properly with professional equipment that will cost you very much more than £500.
Spend a few hundred on training first and take it from there.

I moved into carpet cleaning from windows 25 yes ago. The thing to remember is you are obviously looking at your customer base to generate work. By not getting training and suitable equipment you will potentially lose your current customers .  What could be a good opportunity could bite you in the bum.
So do it properly _ training and invest . It might work.

So the general consensus is to buy are more expensive system and train the operator.

the ideology of me buying a sub £500 all in one system is that if it does go t!ts up iv lost £500 and not the thousands of a truck mount.

Maybe just stick to windows...

If that is the machine you were going buy, then yes stick to winders....

You would have lost more than £500
You would have lost your customers and probably your operator as well.

You could possibly get something half decent in the way of a used machine for your budget. However as mentioned you would still need training, chemicals and some other bits and pieces to get things started.

£1000 - £1500 may be a better budget in the first instance and look for something used.

It could always be used as a backup machine or second unit a year down the line when you get this part of the business more established.

there are some machines out there for that price,
a lot of lads are selling there extracta machines cheap
am sure you could get some sort of training
give it a go

But first, go and get some training and find out a lot more about what is involved. You can do an awful lot of damage very quickly simply by not knowing what you are doing.
When you've got a better understanding, then and only then think about machines etc.
