Took delivery of my new Alltec Express today, twin vac 130psi with in tank heater.  My main machine is a Storm and i have an in-line heater for this.  Using an in tank heater though with the water going through the pump i am assuming if you use it too hot that it will damage or at least shorten the life of the pump, so what is the ideal temp to run it at?

I thought the express had an inbuilt inline not an intank  ... at least the only heat option on the website seems to be inline .
In tank is a kettle immersion ... sure u have that ?

If its an immersion Ashbys set the limit at 60 degrees for an pumptec plunger pump and i think 70 for a diaphragm pump .

If you have an inbuilt inline then its situated post pump so hot as u like it .

Yes John it is element in the tank like a kettle, temp gauge goes up to 90 degrees, not sure what type of pump.

Your pump would be a diaphragm , they seem to take heat well . I'v used one with a broken thermostat on the intank  ...  the water boiled but the pump lasted ages .
Im sure alltec would not set at 90 if they thought the pump couldn't take it .

 I use extracta with the heater inside the tank the pumps are fine ,mine gos off at 70. hope that helps

Pretty sure Alltec have a cut out set up to stop you detroying the pump Richard. Should be your technical data booklet they supply with their machine.

60 deg is plenty on my enforcer, If I want the water really hot I simply add the V2

Yes i have a technical manual but not really informative, mainly just a list of parts and to make sure your flush the pump on first use as it is filled with anti-freeze.

I have the same machine and the intank heater heats up very quickly I just put it on full and before you know it it's hot lovely little machine.

When I arrive at the job the first thing I do is set up the express, fill with warm water and attach the bleed hose back into the tank.
Switch on the pump and inline heater and within 10 mins I have around 18 litres of very warm watering the tank, by doing this you get consistently hot steaming water at the wand.

Cheers Russ, i used my Express for the first time last night in anger on a commercial job on the really dirty traffic lanes and although the water heated up nicely it took a while for it too get to the wand, i will use the bleed hose of my Storm next time as you suggested.

I am a bit confused...

Does the Alltec Express come with an inline heater or just a kettle element in the solution tank? It's advertised as being an Inline "Perfect Heat" heater which would give you instant heat and is much more expensive heater than a kettle element?

Alltec's website is a little confusing but it can come with the kettle built in heater, which is the one i have, yes it takes time to heat up but you just set it up when you arrive and by the time you have hovered and pre-sprayed it is hot. I chose this as this is a back up machine and also for cleaning a specific hotel where i am doing quite a bit of work and saves me having to lug around an inline heater as well.

My understanding is that the element comes as standard and an inline is an additional option that gives you both on a 3 position switch. Element/off/inline this allows a preheat of the water when machine is sat idle.

As Russ says using the bleed hose would allow you to cycle through the inline over and over and heat water quickly if required. Then pop on element while you do preconditioning.
