You did a video cleaning an office carpet the other week using hydrox mixed at 1.1 then sprayed over with DS2 was the carpet polypropylene ?
The reason I ask is because I've been experimenting with four off cut pieces of carpet which I purposely stained a few weeks ago with tea/ coffee/ red wine / and blood, I tested the stains with hydrox mixed at 3.1 as the instructions say on the bottle and again with 1.1 as you did
the stains I attempted to remove at 3.1 mix had all gone exept for the blood a second attempt completely removed it, I then tried the same test at 1.1 and the stains came out in seconds but so did the colour !!  I had samples of acrylic , polyester and 80/20 and the wool off cut being the most affected as you would expect ! I cleaned a college in durhan last week using a variety of encaps including Hydrox but I was cleaning polypropylene low profile tiles and was spotting at just 3.1
I wonder what is in Hydrox to give such a bleeching effect ?

Hi Stu

I'm sure hydrox works just fine at 3:1but i guess I have Always found it to work very well at 1:1.
It's only used as a spotter as I find DS2 to do the brunt of the cleaning.
To be fair I have only used hydrox on fully synthetic commercial carpets, probably wouldn't chance it on wool at that dilution

It would appear to me that there must be more hydrogen peroxide in hydrox than some of the other encaps ! Saying that its bloody good stuff and I will keep it as a problem solver

I agree Stu, it's a great problem solver and at 16:1 it works at a safe dilution especially on heavily soiled carpets which are prone to wicking back.
Read the excellent link Jamie posted written by Rick who developed the product.
To me Releasit products are leading the way in encapsulation technology and so far it hasn't failed my expectations.

Pre test on each carpet at the dilution you are going to use, as some have found out the hard way that it can be a painful experience.

Fortunately all this was done on test patches, otherwise I would of been in hot water!
Just shows not to be complacement when it comes to stain removers

Stuart have you tried to flush the area with water?

I have had a call back once before on an area we spotted with hydrox and it turned out to be excess polymer that flushed away with a spotting machine which was giving a white look to the area. Even after vacuuming in house with a BS36

When I asked our guy that did the work he did say that he gave it an excessively heavy application and should have probably bonneted the area as it was a fairly large spill.

Yes Jamie

I wasn't encapping with it, I had used it on a blood stain last week whilst I was cleaning hwe but at 3.1 ratio and the blood vanished in about five mins, ive tried using it at 1.1 mix as Russ had done but just on some pre stained scraps but its definitely removed the colour and more so on the 80/20

Russ, I had a look at the videos on your website. Theyre very good but you`re going to have to slow down a bit mate - you`ll have a heart attack working at that speed!!
