Just to let everyone know that after the demise of Extracta on the Team Valley, Brian from Extracta has set up as a repair centre for anyone with machines or hoses/tools that need repairing.  He is also retailing most of the chemicals as well.

At least you might have rare and decent machine if its using the 8.4 motors  ...  upgrade the pump perhaps , add an external heater etc .

Did u have any problems with it ? someone mentioned the 8.4 motors might have contributed to sending them under ? Hard to believe a handfull of turbo machines and a couple of breakdowns would bring down a company that also have a repair business etc   ? ... i dunno

I think after talking to Brian it was the unreliability of the 8.4 vac motors that ultimately caused the business to go under, he was saying that 80% of the ones that were delivered (from Mexico) were out of balance and had to be returned to the supplier without ever getting fitted to a machine.

the machine is better than the exel john a bit more quiet and more pull from the vacs .a bigger pump would be great
as for an external heater I don't think they need one, the heater in them are way good enough,

Yeah , if your stuck with a 100psi its a bit of a performance mismatch for a pair of 8.4's in series .
There would be a few easy straight swap pumps if you didn't need pressure adjustment .

there is also a 200psi version  ... Mytee use these pumps .


No you dont ' need ' an external heater ...  but it does give you hotter water at the wand and speeds up the waiting time if you are going from cold .   Use the internal immersion to pre heat the water and then feed it to the external and you have very hot water  at the wand fast .

This is the 200psi version  ... but the carpetcleaningstore guy used to sell them for around 200 with the aquatec badge .

I did have an Ashbys steammate a while back , i think most would agree its probably the best but the powerflite is excellent , no heat adjustment but really you dont need it , never bothers me .
I have not tried the cleansmart one .

Hi Guys

Bought my first machines off Lloyd Owens who was an Extracta dealer and then a couple direct.

When I first got the Excel I though it was excellent but soon found the second vac was prone to blowing and that Extracta were prone to blaming me for not using it right.

I had so many vacs even my accountant picked up on it!

I seem to remember Brian was definitely the more helpful partner, so good luck to him.

Were ashcombes a rebadged extracta. Still wish I had took a trip to Extracta when living in NE instead of investing 100k in a shop

Ashcombe were a distributor but Lloyd managed to get Extracta to send him the design plans and 18 months later Ashcombe's own brand was born.

It was very similar but Lloyd didn't survive the recession in the early nineties.

What shop did you buy?

105 hours on my machine and now the pump is dead , heater last week ,
might be a vac next week
