Bird Flu?
« on: April 06, 2006, 08:50:35 am »
Just a thought .......

How many of you have tried to remove a small peice of dirt from a window with your finger nail?

Just think what germs etc. could be trapped under your nail? (especially considering the current news!) :-\

what with bird flu now found is scotland  :(

is it now time we looked at how we cleaned windows

this little snippet concearns me, its taken from the BBC website and is backed by the WHO

Birds excrete the virus in their faeces, which dry and become pulverised, and are then inhaled.

now this should make the alarm bells ring, how many of us use out unger scraper to scrap off bird poo (or as its been said before, use a finger nail)

is it time to do WFP upstairs and downstairs ?? ?? ?? ?? i think it might be

Hi Matt

very good point

bird muck is very easy to get off downstairs as you can see its been removed, i myself have had no problems removing it from upstairs but in the past there has been a bit of a debate about wfp removing it.

But wether it be up or downstairs, wfp or trad weve all got to come up with a safer way to remove it

I am starting to do more downstairs with wfp anyway

Why?
It'll hit blokes just as hard if it mutates

1 Swan doesn't make a flu epidemic.

There are 10 billion wild ducks and chickens in South East Asia, and 1 billion humans.

Disaster waiting to happen....

So you think this could be another 1347 'Black Death' plague?

My wifes parents own a medical supply business and they have just done their months sales targets on bird flu products for 4 different Police forces!

Id say if the government bodies are taking it very seriously then so should we.

David, the Duck - i hope i dont get the Bird Flu! he he he!

Easily!

They think the Spanish flu from early 1900s was bird flu!  It killed something like 30 million people.
I saw a programme a few weeks ago.  People were collapsing in the streets in England.  It mutated from farm animals to soldiers I think, and off it went around the world in months.   The next will be much bigger.
Coming to a street near you soon![/

from the bit i highlighted its got to be considered

who uses a scraper to remove dried on bird poo, you scrape it and then where does the dust and particles go, thats right, you enhale them

its not a joking matter for me, i have a young family and i wouldnt mind see'ing my daughter grow up

i only posted so we could discuss the options (my post was then mearged with this un), you know what they say "2 minds better than 1 and all that"

but hey, if you want to make light of it, carry on  ::)

In all seriousness, 100 people froam asia to fife had met their maker since this "epedemic" started. I'd go as far to say we've got as much chance of winning the lottery "twice" than we have of catching bird flu.
That doesn't mean we should be complacent. It's probably not AS much of a danger to WFPers, but even trad cleaners will probably have more chance of Claudia Schiffer sending you a sexy text message than of catching the H5N1 strain.
And i know which one i'd rather be a recipient of  ;)
