Mascara stain
« on: August 05, 2014, 08:41:49 am »
Good morning

Has anyone any idea to get rid of a trodden in Mascara stain?

I'm keen to get this one out fully as there is more work from this new letting agent that has set up.

No previous cleaners have been in.

Thanks  :)

Prochem recommend  Sovall ( but I have never used it ) and solvex/citrus gel.

http://www.prochem-uk.com/shopimages/pdf/cthstainrg.pdf

We would normally use citrus gel and acetone.

You can buy 5ltr container acetone on Ebay, but remember to buy the 99.9 % pure solution. It is basically a much stronger mix of nail varnish remover and we tend to use it instead of prochem solvex as solvex is ridiculously expensive. Sometimes I will mix a little low odour white spirit with acetone if safe to use and find it just as good as solvex but for a fraction of the price.

why would anyone call you  ...  white spirit was developed by stoddard as a cleaning product  . Its essential imo and relatively  costs peanuts  ..
I have white spirit  ... acetone ... isopropyl  .  I stopped buying the branded products solvex pog  etc as the generally no better or worse .
I also have a heap of fels naptha from ebay to see what the americans were on about .. but its cleaning component is similar to white spirit so no better imo .

Skin really is unique Mike. I was using some wood dye yesterday and had it all over my hands, a few hand washes and a bath and it had gone. Now if you had spilt the same amount of wood dye on a carpet it would of been a differen story!
