Hi guys,

We run an enforcer as our main machine, but the other day we had to revert to our backup/lighter machine a 400psi Ninja because of the job location (top of apartment block- drought of communal plugs etc).

Usually fine but it did something that its done e few times before and the best way i can describe it is a pressure drop. The pump just doesn't get up to usual pressure. It feels like 200-300 although its reading 400psi on the gauge. Sometimes after turning off to empty and back on it will suddenly be fine or opening flow control wide and slowly closing, then it comes back to life. But not this time just couldnt make it normal.

Any ideas guys?

Have you tried using a different solution hose? I know that if the QCs are a bit worn it can make quite a difference in pressure . I had a similar problem on my scorpion recently and thought that the pump was knackered but when I used another hose the presure was as good as gold with no problems since .

Thanks for post simon, however we use the hoses interchangably with enforcer all the time. So must be something pump, internal plumbing related

Make sure the filter in the tank is clean or it could be the rubber on the plunger on the brass pressure regulator, if none of these it may be time to rebuild the pump head.

Or a worn by-pass, when closed and pump on, put your finger over by-pass outlet
in tank and see if you can detect any pressure.

check your pressure regulator - very often the cause of problems and hardly ever talked about

if you have the 400 psi pump you should have a big brass regulator you use to adjust the pressure - it should be greased on a regular basis otherwise the valve sticks and you get too much pressure building up in the pump and not coming out of the hose connector

5 min job, fully unwind the brass regulator so it comes off, there will be a big spring behind it, take that out, use some small nose pliers then to take off a solid washer and then the shaft, it will probably look corroded/rusted. Clean it, lubricate it with some good grease and reassemble. Should be done every 6 weeks or so and can save loads of trouble
