The days of amateur websites and DIY adwords are long gone (in my opinion).

Unless you've already got a fair bit of IT knowledge I wouldn't bother as it's really not easy, very time consuming, and there are many expensive mistakes you are (highly) likely to make along the road to getting it all set up correctly.

A better question might be: 'Who can run my adwords and website for me?'.... If you choose this route, your next question should be 'how much should I budget for this (monthly)?'.

Be careful, this market is absolutely full of sharks.

Couldn't disagree more with david. (sorry david)

Adwords is actually quite simple once you get your head round the basics and ask a few question.

try this book creighton. brilliant http://www.amazon.co.uk/Ultimate-Guide-Google-AdWords-Million-ebook/dp/B008FOSH8K/ref=sr_1_sc_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1406897400&sr=8-1-spell&keywords=adwords+perry+marshal

like i said on another thread, learn the basics then at least you know what your paying for if you do outsource it.

i made that mistake and hopefully you guys can learn from it.

It would be interesting to swap a few notes Derek - would you like to meet up sometime (you're only 30 mins from me)?

I wouldn't bother contacting google regarding anything. They are a butch of useless fuds. There reply to me asking if 5 clicks from 4 impressions was normal was met with silence. And no I didn't get a refund. They where equally useless with other help I was seeking.

Like Derek said, teach yourself it. These so called experts just stick to a script/blue print, money for old rope springs to mind don't get hussled.

Yes because keeping 3 vans busy purely from repeat recommendation and adwords  advised by google , really does not work for me , ill just go for a spin in my new merc paid for by ermmmmmm adwords shall I .

Also who would go to alltec, solution, prochem  or any dealer for training ?  Google are the experts , that is why I trust them to advise me on the best way to conduct a campaign , a bit like my customers trusting me on the best way to clean their carpets , yes money is involved , but yes  I get a return .  Some google expert that once worked at google for 6 weeks and writes a book is not going to be a better source than the supplier.

And Matt Cutts does your SEO  ;D

Seriously though, there's a lot of nonsense peddled about Adwords. Perry Marshall never worked for Google. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perry_Marshall

Jason, whilst Google is undoubtedly helping you achieve your sales which is great, Google only has one interest and that is making money, it doesn't care about you, me or Joe Blogs down the road and it is not going to tell you how to achieve the same results for less money, as its not in their interests.  Where a Google marketing company might help you out is by achieve the same results as you are currently getting but saving you money, or you could do it yourself by learning it from an online course or book, Perry Marshal is highly regarded as a guru in this field but there are other options also available.

If you are getting a good return on a system , and it's running along nicely . Why would you want to change it ?

I might run another campaign along side to measure the results , but if it's not broke why fix it .

It's like paying a pound on the bus to town to buy 4 tins of beans  because they have 2p off beans .

Find out what works and keep doing it and doing it and doing it

Its a good job our customers do not think like you. I pay google , we talk regularly , I am constantly getting credits , promotions and tweaks carried out by them . The returns I get are fabulous compared to my ads 20 years ago.  I am much more productive in other areas so adwords is outsourced to the people who know it best and have the authority and clout to get my sites seen .

After last nights chat with Google Adwords team and a lot of tweaking my ad I have to concur with JasonL.....took me through things I had no idea about and was very patient.
