Pest Control
« on: July 30, 2014, 08:51:51 am »
Looking at expanding my services and have toyed with getting into Pest Control.

Although i have left it too late for this year might consider doing the BPCA online qualification in the Autumn but need to know if there is much demand for this service and therefore worthwhile.

Are there any other qualifications training i should consider.

Hi Richard

The RSPH level 2 is the recognised qualification to get, however you still need to gain experience once you've qualified, I qualified last year and I created relationships, travelled up to other companies and went out with them to gain field craft as such, I still do lots of other training courses associated with pest control and go to most of the exhibitions, the business itself is the same as the rest of the cleaning industry, lots doing it, very cut throat but not unachievable, if you're willing to put the hard work in you can make gains out of it..!

Cheers Graham, that's the course i was thinking of doing.

Just out of interest do you find the work less physical than your other cleaning activities? also what would you say the average length of time on site per job would be, ( i know its a bit of a how long a piece of string is) but for me carpet cleaning my average job is around 3 hours.

How did you find the course and exam by the way?

Just remembered didn't i sell you the window cleaning gear recently for your son to start up if i remember correctly?

I just did Killgerm training with no proper qualification. Its worth doing if only for the wasps nests and fleas. I don't do contract jobs

Hi Richard
yes you did, tho he's been a bit lazy with it, time in site depends on wether you're doing a large commercial or a small domestic, every day is so different, I would say across the board average time on site for domestics and small commercials would be about an hour, the course is tough going but you get online material to study prior to the actual course itself, go for it.!
