Rotary in business? ?
« on: July 28, 2014, 05:17:03 pm »
Good afternoon everyone!

Currently I was using carpet pile brush 18" from Prochem to rub prespray on the carpet. It seems be easy and not hard on small areas but when occasionally it might happen that I'll get bigger job to do. Here's the QUESTION. How often do you use your rotary at daily basis? Is it used even when you guys do just a double bedroom?
I am not sure how essential is rotary in this business??

All these questions show up when I came with though to buy one slow rpm.

I use a Host freestyle CRB to agitate my pre sprays and it makes a massive difference.
This is the season for fine wine, and drunken friends, enjoy this moment, for this moment is your life.

So you are using it even on small jobs of size of double bedroom?
Looks like it's worth of buying one. I'd go for Numatic with tank etc.

Simon, if you're doing domestics you really shouldn't be using a rotary if you're new to carpet cleaning. They're too aggressive and if you use a tank to apply the pre spray, then chances are you will get carpets too wet and it won't do your business any favours.
Look for a Sebo duo which will do a much better job than a pile brush without knackering anybody's carpet.

Simon. A rotary "is" essential to your business. A slow speed one with a carpet brush is fine on domestic carpets but, as posted by Gary, applying solution from the tank is not a good idea on domestic carpets. A carpet brush will also do the job but is much harder work and the amount of aggitation required will be governed by the product you're using. A Sebo Duo is great for small area's and stairs. Next would be a rotary with a contra rotating brush machine being the dogs do da's. The better the aggitation of your chosen pre-spray the better the end result will (should) be.

What's wrong with using a rotary at the right speed with a shampoo brush following a prespray ?  ::)roll

Nothing wrong with rotaries but IMO getting some experience under your belt before you go gung-ho on someone's domestic isn't a bad thing.
This is based on personal experience as I once burned a lovely circle in someone's polypropylene carpet. I would use a rotary now without a problem but the op is new to the industry and ought to be aware of the power and potentially aggressive nature of a rotary on some carpets.

I use a sebo duo but I love my oreck orbiter with a green brush. I don't use my big rotary on many domestics

Thanks guys for all opinions.
By saying rotary with tank I meant that this tank will be useful in future for shampooing or encap or anything else such as ad a little of weight to my rotary by filling it with clear water but these are just an examples.
I usually apply pre spray by air compressed sprayer with lance this most common you know which ones!
Proper training is a must especially when I am beginner. ..
Though prochem 2 days carpet cleaning may enlighten me a bit about these rotary. Hopefully!

Anyways if I'll decide to buy rotary I have to test it on my own carpets. Thanks Gary for telling me your story. Hope I won't burn circles at anyone's carpet hah!

Once again many thanks for every help.
Simon.

hi, ive got a prochem steempro 2000 extraction and use a cheapo carpet pile grooming tool I bought from fleabay which is a bit tiring to use and makes me sweat like a goodun. Some guy advised me on a rotary to buy, Im pretty sure it was a sebo and single pad on the business end and was around £150 - £200 brand new? any ideas what one it is as I cant remember. he said it would save me a lot of hard work and make a better job. Im going to need a rotary anyway I think, for when it comes to cleaning things like pub carpets that are heavily soiled?

cheers (sorry for hijack)

Hi Neil,

By saying rotary for commercial shall I understand that this tool is useless for domestic purpose at all?
Such one like NPR 1515 from numatic?  Surely I'll buy sebo duo... completely forgot about this equipment!

Simon you might consider oreck orbiter for small domestic, will give you better job and will last for loger then sebo.
The machine like prochem tm4 should be next one if you have the money as this is best for domestic and good enough for small commercial. Would not buy rotary if you dont do big commercials and or bonneting.

no not at all , i have used the rotary with a shampoo brush to good effect but genrally with a good vac and pre spray with a good dwell a sebo is more than adequate, the rotary is just to heavy for me to be draging around .

but I do agree with Radek oreck is better built , its just that I had a sebo first and got given another for parts as they do tend to start breaking with heavy use
