Hi Gary

These poles have what we call joint indicator tape along with a woven-in contrast band on each section. The joint indicator tape acts as a joint stop - stopping the section from being over-extended. However if pulled hard enough you can slide the sections out past this tape and the pole then becomes a pull-apart pole. If you do not like working with joint indicator tape then it can be removed and the woven-in contrast band gives clear indication of where to stop the section.

It is woven in as the outermost layer of fabric but under the final layer of epoxy matrix layer.

Looking at your pole history both of your poles are a different design to the current poles overlap method. Your Mk3 SLX25 (2009 model) will have had the earlier indicator woven in tape which did not last very long at all compared to the current overlap area. The other SLX25 (pre 2013 model) was old enough that it will only have ever had the joint stop tape.

The new overlap material is much harder wearing and covers the whole of the bottom 180mm of the base of each section. It takes an awful lot of wear to wear these away and in fact I have never seen one of these poles with enough wear for it to completely wear off.

I am going to buy a relatively light pole due to all the gutter and
fascia work im doing,if it was just windows i would stick with my
old opitilock alloy pole as its a doddle and no strain at all.

im cleaning at least 5 fascia and gutters in the week  every week and its getting
a little wearing on the shoulders

up until recently i used my trusted little xtel pole and loved it. also had a harris pole. Covered most of my work easily. One day i had a go of a clx. A week later i owned my own. great pole mate.

our slx is under a year old and falling to bits !!! it been dropped over ten times aday , fell off the top of the van at 60mph .dropped off second floor afew times

hubbys thrown it on the floor in a fit of rage many times and it keeps going and going

I wouldn't buy anything else once its ticked to 12months old I will buy a new one right away if a pole can take this kind of treatment day in day out and keep going then I wouldn't have any other

I have loads of the,,,, 4 x slx 18...1 sox 25 Mk 1 and an sox 30 mk2 I think... All are brilliant though the 2 bigger ones are nearing the end... We will have a ceremony before getting new ones and a couple of bigger ones... I wouldn't use anything else...

like i said if it was just window cleaning i wouldnt bother,its the easiest

Yes thats why im enquiring about a lighter pole

the fascia cleaning everyday is a bit tiring,i could diy a fishing
pole which would be cheaper but i really cant be bothered
