New customer 1st clean last Friday. Asian neighbour come out sees the poles and TFR lifting off years of muck says "Oh that looks good. How much to clean my house? Price please for house and conservatory separately."
I reply "£10 house, £10 conny."
"How often do you come around?"
"Usually monthly."
"Oh no you're too expensive. I've already got a Window Cleaner anyway (looks like trad - wipes sills but not touched the frames). He comes and cleans the house windows, then 6 weeks later he comes and cleans the conservatory, 6 weeks later he comes and cleans the house windows."
So he only cleans either every 12 weeks just about 4 times a year.
What I find incredible is that her windie is giving her such a good deal yet she's prepared to drop him just like that and still trying to beat down the price.
Expecting a full TFR first clean and a proper poley job all glass, frames and doors for even less than what she is paying him.

Hi Positivity, 15 pound just seems very cheap for a first clean using tfr to remove years of grime, just my opinion,
hope the customer appreciate's the good job you've done and does use you monthly.

and they tip well at xmas

I had one Asian couple a few years ago, very difficult to please, quite rich, with no sense of loyalty. Cancelled me once he had "self cleaning glass" put in. 6 weeks later asked me if I would carry on again. 6 weeks later can you please reach and wash the windows and then after get out your ladder and hand wipe all the sills.
6 weeks later cancelled me cos he has got someone else. No loyalty.
I have another Asian couple now and they are absolutely lovely, always smiling, cup of coffee one of my favourite customers. As they say up north "There's nowt queer than folk"

I used to have quite a number of Asian customers in the East End of London. What drove me nuts was especially with Pakistani's and Bangladeshi's is that it is in their culture to constantly try and get that bit extra for nothing or to have the price reduced even if it's 50p.

It's not that there is anything wrong in that, it's more that I didn't want the constant semi bartering type thing each time I cleaned their windows.

One thing I do miss though, one customer would give me home made Indian sweets. Delicious.

This isn't my experience. Yes, there is the initial haggling but once you get past that I find them to be good customers. Certainly no worse than the indigenous population.

My round is made up of about 2% of Asians and 75% of them are a PITA. Go figure!

Certainly there is a far greater chance of an Asian customer haggling than any other customer.  If someone haggles, I don't continue.  This is because if they can't get the price down, they will often try for extra freebies.  I go to work to earn money - not to get a headache.  However, I have Asian customers who have never haggled.  Some just know that it isn't done that way.
