Pantination oil?
« on: July 26, 2014, 03:01:08 pm »
Pricing a job where I have to clean slate tiles with pantination oil but have never used it or even herd of it being used before. I guess it's to remove staining from lead flashing and metal roof casings ect. Can anybody give me some idea of where to get it and how to use it thanks

It's called Patination Oil and is for the prevention of Carbonate build up on newly installed lead and to enhance and improve the colour of lead.  It is NOT for cleaning slate.  The only thing it may do is enhance the slate colour but as it is unlikely to penetrate slate it would also attract dirt quicker as well IMHO if you were to use it on slate!

Maybe the client meant cleaning this oil OFF the slate tiles?
