Daft Flyer
« on: July 24, 2014, 12:24:17 pm »
I am working in middlesbrough cleaning a three piece suit five seats I all , having a coffee at the mo, the customer brings over this daft 4inch x 5 inch colour flyer advertising full suites cleaned for £45
And an average living room carpet for £24 but has the wording of Dry Fusion ! Ie cleaned deodourised
stain blocked and heat dried, but has a before and after photo of a carpet that has definately been cleaned using hwe you can even still see the wand marks in the after photo!
My customer certainly wasn't impressed by it as she is paying nearly five times that amount to have her suite cleaned

No, you are just very very cheap, and know the customer wouldn't touch it with a barge pole !
Her words, not mine, I wouldnt touch a suite for less than £150

I don't think I'm very very cheap just average for this area.

If I quoted £150 minimum for a suite I wouldn't get many.

That said it might be an idea quoting like that as I hate doing them and if I got them at that price it would be a bonus ;D

I charge £40 a seat I guarantee the customer can sit on the upholstery before I leave ! For that reason the process takes 3 -4 hours and I get those prices, ok I only clean 3 a week but thats all I want, I can clean a full three bedroom house the time it takes to clean the average suite and charge more for carpets and customers are far more likely to pay that sort of price for carpets

Spot on reply Stuart.
You're unlucky still getting 3 a week,   ;)  Had one today that was 5 hours from pulling up to driving away.
I'd also much rather do the carpets  :)
If there isn't enough time to do the job right,  how do we find the time to go back and do it again when the customer is not happy ?   Do it right the 1st Time.

Could you guarantee that you would have a 100% cotton suite dry in that time? ??? ???

yes quite easily, I use up to six air movers and always clean low moisture as posible, the preperation
ie vac and preconditioning are the most important things on any suite, I always go by IICRC  Standards
and thats why I get the prices I want! Who knows I might be charging £250 a suit next year! Lol
I know a few guys that do and charge £300 plus

About 15 years ago I knew a guy, who has now immigrated to New Zealand, who had a carpet cleaning business called ' Just Carpet Cleaning' ......... says it all because thats all he would do.

The amount calls he got for Suite cleaning was astounding,

His girl would answer the phone 'Good morning Just Carpet Cleaning, how may I help you'  and at least (he said) 15 times a week she would get asked 'do you clean suites'  ;D

He swears blind that if he was just called Bob's Carpet Cleaning or whatever he would never have had the same amount of enquiries on sofa cleaning.

Very strange indeed, there is probably some psudo babble answer to this on the emotional thinking of potential customers but what ever it is it worked.

A close relative of mine asked the girls at the local Post Office if they sold stamps! Embarrassing or what?
