Draw a line around the inside of the bucket 4" from the top, when filling up and the water reaches the line turn the tap off. You could also tie a bit of string to your thumb when filling the bucket to remind you to turn the tap off.

When using a 5 litre bucket filling up with 4 litres of water should stop you from spilling the water. Find a 1 litre plastic bottle from your re-cycling bin and fill that, transfer water to bucket and then repeat a further 3 times.
Train any apprentices with this system and you should have no further problems.

Just spit on windows and rub about a bit,no bucket,
honestly,some people need there hand held.
