leads peeling
« on: July 16, 2014, 03:58:49 pm »
Just had a customer saying about their leaded windows peeling and was it my system?

Windows are the newer design.

Explained just glued on and heat and cold and rain would all pay its part over the years.

Windows are 30 years old and I've cleaned them for 10 years.
8 yrs wfp then 2 years trad before that!

Down stairs bay window frames are chaking badly; been peeling last 2 years.

Explained cleaning with a cloth wouldn't have been any safer.

Oh well he's still on the books for now didn't know what else to say to him?

In that situation I would suggest they get a trad guy to do them if they think that.

I just picked a house up, 1st window I cleaned the lead strip came away. Lady came out and tells me it was the previous guy, pulled it off the window and never said anything. He was soon history!

Small piece of this, she is over the moon and I now have a very happy monthly custie!

No no no, as soon as you repair one strip, even at an agreed price, they will want them all done as and when they come loose.
Up a ladder with a razor blade to make sure there is no glue left on from the old, the new stuff then needs to weather.
I have one where as they come loose, I just stanley that bit off.
Needless to say I put no pressure on any of the upper windows.
Good luck
Tony

Yes yes yes.
Small acts like this goes a long way with some people. She was very happy, cost me a couple of pence and when i get more income from her friends and family its a win win for me.
No ladder anyway,  it was do-able by reaching out the window.

Yes yes yes! Well done. you saw a need there, identified it and turned a potential complaint into a positive money earner. well done to you; that is the sign of a business man not just a window cleaner. well done sir
