take my advice and stay well clear mate. ISO is a deadly paper chase which costs you money n  a great way of tripping yourself up.

i worked with ISO systems you gotta keep on top of it all the time. it is a living breathing document.

Keeping on top of ISO systems is the very basics of quality management. Doesn't matter what the business, quality is essential.

14001 is the environmental standard. Interesting question about the resin though.

resin will have to be disposed of professionally and you will need waste transfer certs to prove it. the days of  launching in wheelie bin are long gone i am afraid.

that is just one little question to begin with. i could be here for ages.

within your ISO documentation anyhting  with the word "shall" must be done. I am pretty sur ein iso 9001 2000 there are well over 132 points or something.

another thing you will have to pay for someone to audit your system. You cannot do this yourself.

you will also need to COSHH assessments on  any chemical you use right down to fairy as well.

also if you have guys working for you every task they do with these chemicals must have SOP's standard operating procedures which thye must follow at all times every time and they must sign off on SOP's to prove they can do it.
you are just scratching the surface here.

say you are cleaning  a upvc fascia wash n gutters etc. You are using virosol or ubix and the run off from it is on a patio. whee do you wash it off to?  you cannot go pouring chems down watercourses. weclome to the world of quality n environmental management

Very, very interesting mate. Thank you. What's sparked it is that I know someone who is not an assessor, but consultant who walks companies through the process and he is willing to do this for nigh on free. 

I was not thinking so much of the property cleaning company doing this as my solar company. No chemicals etc. the resin question is a good one though, but I have a mate who is a big UK supplier, so may be able to get an answer from him on how to dispose to an ISO standard.

The big attraction is the possibility of someone else compiling all the information for me and putting into a near-pass format ready for auditing, all for free.  Still, your thoughts, based on experience are very much worth considering too. I've still got homework to do it seems....

The question I ask on anything paperwork or training type is:
If I do this, will it make me more money?
Will it be more of my time?
Those 2 questions seem to give the reply to almost any business question.

iso is a pain to be honest lol.  you cannot just get accreditation n then bang all stuff in a folder. it is al iving document that  constantly needs audited n worked on. you must show this. audit timetable needs to bemade and you will have  internal audits  which are done n then once per year bsi/ external audit takes place etc.
we also had an accredited ukas test house in our factory plus CAA (airline industry) acreditation.

Go for it. The sort of companies you deal with will take you far more seriously than a company that doesn't like Pink Hippo for example.

also companies who are iso approved  can audit you as well. You need to get on their approved list of contractors etc.

trust me man  stay clear.  For the work you will put into it  the benefits i don't think will be worth it. however if you need pointers  on things  or COSHH related stuff i am happy to help.

I think there is a good possibility ISO14000 will in the solar industry. They are very much into all that stuff.
