Drove for half an hour to the house and couldn't see anything wrong. Customer takes me into the house and the massive windows are peppered in pollen marks. Bloody crap wfp really is useless sometimes. Got back outside and again couldn't see a single mark.

These stories always remind me of the Doc Hollywood film where the woman goes to him with a eyesight
problem.
He takes her glasses off, gives them a clean and she's cured. 
You couldn't make up some of the things the public come out with, all part of the fun.

the pollen marks are a real pain  wfp useless on them  unless  you use the stock to break it up then scrubb  scrubbb

I found that I pushed too hard to try and break the pollen down.
Not letting the bristles do their job properly.
I found by pressing the outer bristles down to the height where the inner bristles just compress and being slightly patient it actually gave a better clean.
Flipping  the brush to use the stock may break down individual pollen(s?) but using the whole brush will be quicker for multiple pollens over the course of the pane.
And you don't run the risk of scratching the glass with the stock.
Just my thoughts though...

DW's issue is he can't see the pollen it sounds like. Perhaps a trip to Specsavers?

I have one particular house wich is always covered in pollen marks, and i struggle to see them unless the blinds are open!
Since buying the gardiners super scraper its much easier to remove.

I clean my own windows every week and sometimes i pole them sometimes ladder as i live in a terraced and access is hard, but i find when i pole them the pollen stays ... we get lots of pollen marks in summer and loads of insect crap its a nightmare

I dont get many complaints on my rounds about it though , i dont think people check the windows that closely , im sure if they did thered always be something to whine about

I gotta say you can't beat the trad way, not up ladders I mean the clean of the glass. When I use to trad you can walk away knowing the job looks lovely, when wfp you never know what they will dry out like specially if the suns shining. Lot of the guys that wfp residential mostly does the outside so you don't get to see what they actually look like with bits of stuff that stay on the windows. I don't know how we get away with it sometimes. I could never go back to ladders as wouldn't fit my work in and it's just so much easier to pole but don't really rate the cleaning it leaves sometimes. 😁

Spot on Danny, I do believe that WFP is a safer method but you do lose
quality control.
Very hard to compete with a good traditional guy especially if they clean the frames and sills.
Its lucky for us that good Traditional guys are the exception to the rule.

We get away with it because the overall clean is better,they come
home the frames are gleaming the glass looks clean and 99% of
ustomers are happy with that

Granted we can leave the odd spot on occasion but they can only be seen if you look in bright light with your nose to the glass.

Any normal customer doesn't do this. They are happy with clean shiny glass and clean frames.

As has been said previously, we think of window cleaning 90% of the time, wheras customers only think of it 0.9% of the time.

It's funny as the old school guys same as me, when going back many many years when doing trad I never took no notice of the frames as I did the glass and never took no notice of frames. But yes Doing with pole and doing the frames now I look and it does make the glass look cleaner. Just did a couple of care homes in Cambridge the sunny part windows dried out abit spotty, now if that was done off ladders would be sparkling clean and yes I rinsed more where the windows were hot but still slightly spotty 👍

I found hot WFP brilliant for removing pollen - it just melts away...

I found that if you use the edge of the bristles (not pressing hard) very lightly buff the glass so they don't splay out you can get over this problem

I am trad, and I don't wish to sound as if I am blowing my own trumpet, but I clean the frames every time, and take a lot of care to ensure that I do a job that is virtually complaint proof.

I recently had my eldest daughter working with me, and we were asked by a builder to clean the insides and outsides of a council house that he was renovating. When we finished, having seen both sides of the glass, we could see that they were perfect.

I have never tried wfp, so cannot make a fair comparison based on personal experience, but I am sure both methods yield good results in the right hands.
