Young driver van insurance- any ideas?
« on: July 13, 2014, 06:51:24 pm »
Any ideas on who to use guys? My son will be driving the "new" van soon and need some ideas.. He's 22 with 3 years driving experience and one claim  ::)roll (I know, I know) .. been getting quotes of £800 + !

I've got 9 years ncb on my van and full ncb on private car. Are there any companies that take this into consideration?

Would it be classed as "fronting" if I insured the van (which I can get fairly cheaply) and he drives it 3rd party only under his car policy, probably is!?

Have you tried him insuring the van and having you as the names driver?
Im 22 with 3ncb aswell and mine is about £580 a year on a 1.9 primastar with sign writing (fully comp)

Dave try a-plan

We have a couple of lads under 25 - price depends on what they are driving, the ldv cub any1 can drive for not huge amounts, but the 3.5 tonne is a no for the 22 yr old even with 5 years no claims but the 24 yr old is no problem

Put my 22 year old son on my van insurance Whilst I was off work a couple of years ago didn't cost too much more with Avviva and when I had van written off money was in bank within 3 days

Aviva

Just sorted it out with them, £170 cheaper than anywhere else with the tank declared etc...
Why don't you have a quick google before making stupid comments?

Its not cheap! Im the same age with same no years claims bonus and me on my own insurance was £580 a year (paying monthly) or one off payment £500!!

So a young lad as a names driver should be even cheaper.

Im insured on my dads convertible audi and that was only extra £150 a year to put me on

Well firstly he talking about his son becoming a named driver? or a policy holder.. what you seem to be forgetting is .. he's had a claim!! any claim for a young driver is going to put it through the roof.

Secondly are you insuring your van as private? for domestic and pleasure and cumunting to and from work? ... or are you insuring it for actually BUSINESS use for the use of the policy holders business?

Yours seems very cheap to me.. is it even fully comp??? am 28 6 years no claims no accidents/crashes what so ever in my driving history driving since 17 and my insurance is 500 with a tank in the back with Aviva!!

My van is fully comp with business use, sign written, etc just me insured £580 a year!
Nissan primastar 1.9 lwb, any other van seems to boost my price a little bit like.
I was paying £2000 for a x reg partner van a few years ago! The van was only £1000

Who with?
With declared mods I struggled to find anyone who'd insure any driver (randomly...) under 36. I'm not even 36-so that ruled that out.
