Quick loc issues
« on: July 13, 2014, 10:58:26 am »
I'm getting bloody sick of these quick loc sockets jamming together when trying to change a brush, I nearly broke my own nose yesterday "dropped me to one knee" when trying to change a brush while doing a connie clean.

How the **** can I stop them sticking together as I'm gonna turn into the hulk soon  ::)roll

They are a nightmare mine has been stuck solid for a year and I have to unscrew the socket from the brush each time I buy a new brush .

You need resi necks  for  each brush otherwise you got no hope . Had to use a vice to get resi neck out of pole to fit scraper . Mike

Same here, also the pop up thing getting stuck and not working after changing brush - although a mate sorted his by running hot water over it as we thought it was just build up of dirt around the metal pop up.

Same here Mike re the vice - i've spoke to Gardiners about this but they said they have never heard about it yet every resi neck to pole has been the same, it comes out lovely until a few months in then it won't budge.

It's like they're fused together due too plastic swelling up on the male part.  Even the resi neck going into the pole only wanna go halfway in... There driven me nuts tbh!!  :(

Get a bit of sand paper on the part of the brush that slots into the resi neck, once you've sanded all 4 sides the brushes fit in a lot better.

Alex changed the tolerances i believe around 2/3 months back. So i replaced some old brushes with he newer sockets and all is gravy.

But as i have around 50 brushes in the business, countless angle adapters etc i am finding i can find the perfect storm and they wont even connected a cm or two!

Same problems  :-\ It generally takes two people to change a brush over, which doesn't really make it Quick, and very difficult if one guy is on his own.

Do as Mike and Hampshire does then.... use a bit of sandpaper  ::)roll....it's not rocket science is it.

Besides the point though. It should work without sanding.

Hi Avo

As you would imagine this is not how they are meant to operate when in use. Drop our sales team an email with your purchase date and exactly which Quick-LoQ components are not operating smoothly. We can then look at replacing any faulty items for you. I imagine from reading the above that it must be at least 2 brush sockets that are giving you an issue?

Anyone else who has had an issue with a Quick-LoQ socket please email us with purchase date and the item that is causing an issue - we can look into these for you.

Hi Mike

I think that you are describing a slightly different issue to Avo - you are referring to the Resi-Neck shaft becoming stuck in the pole? We do have this happen occasionally to a few clients and if you email us with your purchase date and the item causing issue we can replace the base part of the Resi-Neck for you.

If you are having difficulty removing the old resi-neck before replacing with the new part then email me and I can advise how best to remove the stuck item.

Sanding may help, but ideally it should be replaced.  :)

Can you tell us here Alex, that way we are all sorted  :) The only way I've managed it alone is to use a pair of molegrips.

Can you tell us here Alex, that way we are all sorted  :) The only way I've managed it alone is to use a pair of molegrips.

Here is the method I have used on the odd occasion that a client has dropped a stuck one off to me.

1. Take to pieces the Resi-neck so that just the base part is in the pole.
2. Put an adjustable spanner on the flat circular part as in the photo attached.
3. The holding the top section of the pole twist the Resi-neck with the spanner.
4. If the Resi-neck is very tight you may need to get someone else top hold the top section as well.
5. Continue twisting and then apply outward pressure whilst twisting to slowly 'wind' the part free.

Hope this helps.

As soon as you have got it free then replace with a new Resi-neck base.

Even after a little sanding and assembling with silicone grease the old quick loc can be difficult to get apart, I personally find them a pain so I'm trialling the goosenecks from aquadaptor with the slot in where it's un clamped you can simply pull the top arm and brush head out and slot in a different one working really well and I've modified some gardiner ones so I no longer have to fight the quick loc
