Not sure Smudger, my thoughts were the same as yours about a rigid pole in section#1........
But Steven (Aquadapter), has said elsewhere that it is pole hose in the length of pole section #1.

Maybe a rubber bung with a hole in centre has been glued inside section#1....something must be there to keep the connector in place when connecting the two together.

Yep a simple bung would do it for weight and cost issues

Must admit pole looks good.

You know when you unclamp and a section slides down and the clamps slap together.
That, over time, causes the clamps to come loose.
If there was a little rubber gasket/shock absorber between the clamps that would prolong the life of clamp glue.

I have already done that as a diy mod to my supermax, buy a roll of rubber self amalgamating tape from toolstation and tightly wrap 10 or so turns of it around the pole just under the clamp body.

for some reason i cant reply to the other thread but thanks to steven for replying back, looks like its an interesting pole and will be good to see how this new connection last when its been out a few months, wonder why gardiners havent done something like this up to now?

Gardiners haven't done it because it makes the pole heavier I would imagine. Gardiners tend to use a metre of pole hose from the reel of microbore to reduce the weight on the pole. With the Aquadapter crap you'll have more weight on the top of the pole by using the aquadapter and more weight on the bottom of the pole using the reel hose. Possibly more weight to add by using a screw on thread instead of the quick release. I wonder if the handle is insulated? Doesn't look like it.
