looking to buy a spare battery for my backpack
45 plus vat is the best i've found so far
anyone know a better deal

I thought they'd be around the £20 mark.

Speaking of which, as a sheer coincidence; my battery isn't holding as much charge as it used to, so I phoned Williamson Pumps and they're going to send me one out when they get some in from Shurflow (soon I hope).

But, Ben, if your battery is new(ish), you shouldn't need a spare.

Mine's still okay, after six or seven months of daily use.

jouk I believe the backpac comes with its own casing built around the battery

you can easily get 7amp batteries for a tenner if they are not built into a case , i dont know I dont get mines until tomorrow

were to get the batteries ebay model shops etc

It does, but the battery is just 'stuck' onto this casing.

I've found this on e-bay; it's roughly the same dimensions as the Shurflo backpack battery; so I've ordered two of them for £25.

Tosh, that one off ebay looks like it could work as you say. are you confident it will fit in the compatment? (i haven't measured yet)

My present one is only stuck onto the casing with some extra strong 'double-sided sticky-tape'.

I'm just going to pull it off and sit the new battery in its home.  I don't think it'll matter if it's not really secure as the backpack housing will keep it in place.

If it doesn't, I'll source some extra strong 'double sided sticky tape'!

at present it plugs into the lead which plugs into the pump. the one off ebay wont have this, so you wont be able to charge whilst battery is in use... have to get standard charger with clips or something

How did you get on with the new batteries, do they fit and work ok?

I might get a couple myself, although I do have a spare backpack still in its box just in case anything goes wrong.

Ben, just use the same charger. The new battery will have the same spade end terminals.

yes it will, but the lead from the battery (as supplied with back pack)comes to a male/female conection which either connects to the pump or connects to the charger. so if you'e using the battery your charger wont have anything to plug into.
..cut the connector off perhaps, clip wires to spade ends, or get standard charger!?

I couldn't wait for my e-bay batteries, so I went on a 'safari' and eventually found a similar battery from Motor World in Cymbran. 

It's the same battery that those little motorised toy scooters use.

It cost me £5.00 and works perfectly, although I did have to purchase bigger spade connections which cost a whole pound.

The battery works fine with the original charger that came with my backpack.

My e-bay batteries have arrived, but I haven't used them yet.
