For me it's never about the cancelling - it's about cancelling WITH NO NOTICE. If I've set my work out for the day, it's not always possible to tag another job on the end. Therefore, cancelling with no notice is a direct hit on income. With even a little bit of notice, it's possible to re-jig the day's work list and possibly get another customer or two to replace the job. They would be the first to moan if the boss sent them home a couple of hours early with no pay for that time.
